International touring guitarist Matthew Fagan presents a unique Masterclass, demonstrating on Custom handcrafted 10 String Spanish Classical Guitar and traditional 6 String Classical Guitars.

 

Matthew commenced Guitar studies at Age 8 and Classical Piano.  His early studies encompassed Flamenco, Classical and Contemporary Guitar Styles.

Matthew extensively focused on Guitar and Music studies after postponing his study in Medicine at the age of 21.  He entered the College of the Arts Melbourne University and completed the first of 4 Tertiary qualifications in Music.  His studies have included Performance, Arrangement and Composition. Intense workshops with John Williams, Paco Pena and masterclasses in Great Britian and the U.S.A further augmented Matthew’s musical depth.

Matthew has received over 30 commissions in funding by Arts bodies for Composition for Guitar.  This includes the Orchestral Suite for Guitar.  “The Celtic Suite” for 10 String Guitar and Orchestra.

Further original composition for the Spanish Guitar are on Matthew’s Recordings Point of Departure, Indigo Moon, Voyages and Journeys & One Day in Nashville,  Virtuoso A Homage to my Ancestors and Solstice.

Matthew has completed a Masters of Community  Cultural Development as an extension of Matthew’s work as Music Director of the “Voyages Project” which explores the development of the Classical Guitar in Diverse Cultural Performance

In recital Matthew presents a diverse program for the Spanish Classical 10 String Guitar and traditional 6 String.

​
